Hi, I’m Mia.
I’m a writer, content editor, and PhD researcher.
For 10+ years, I’ve created digital content and strategies for national brands, universities, and government agencies, including the Welsh Government, the London School of Economics, Tesco, and British Airways.
After eight years working with agencies like Publicis London, Cedar Communications, and Sunday in London, I returned home to Wales in 2023 and continued my freelance work with Orchard as a lead content editor and strategist on the Creative Wales account.
Between 2022 and 2024, I taught on the MA Marketing and Digital Communications course at Falmouth University, firstly as an Online Tutor in Creative Digital Storytelling, before later guiding students through their dissertations as an Associate Lecturer.
Now, I’m focusing on my PhD at Cardiff University on the platformisation of politics, exploring how digital platforms (and their algorithms) are shaping political engagement and democratic participation in Wales.
My research builds on my MA dissertation at Cardiff University, where I earned a distinction for my work on platform governance, misinformation, and the challenges of regulating the internet.
Beyond my professional and academic life, I’m passionate about community, connection, and culture. In 2021, I had the honour of serving as a UN Women UK Delegate at the 65th Commission on the Status of Women. Before that, I produced live radio shows for Boogaloo Radio, collaborating with music legends like Mike Smith and Rob Owen.
